I bought my dress last October, a year and half before the wedding. At first, people were telling me it was too early to do this. But the reason I did is because I found a dress I loved, and I got it during a trunk show for a great price. I didn't want to risk not being about to find the gown if I waited too long.Finding the perfect gown aside, I really am glad I bought my gown early. I've used it as a source of inspiration when shopping for other things. For example, since the gown is off-white, I kept that mind when considering colors. It's a fancy gown, and I kept that mind when we picked the style of the bridesmaids' gowns. And I coordinated the pattern with some other stuff. Plus, knowing how ornate it is has helps when looking at accessories (though I've only bought the headpiece) and hair styles. It's just made the whole the process easier. It didn't have to be this way, but for anyone who's considering buying their dress a little early, it does have its advantages.
