Another dress - Is Silk Going to be Hot?

Ladies,I LOOOOVE this dress.http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?ProductId=e1e008f6-f06a-4ca5-99b6-ba05bf48d3e2&CategoryId=67d73cea-c12d-471e-b496-73e32a9fd3f5&ColorId=3e22bc8f-b355-4c11-809f-437b0de158f2Is silk going to be too hot for an outdoor ceremony in June down south? We'll start around 5 pm.I've never known silk to breath much but, in the cases that I'm thinking about, the clothes were more fitted.  Let me know.  I don't want to be out there losing water weight. LOL.

Re: Another dress - Is Silk Going to be Hot?

  • YES it will be hot. All the fabric on the bottom, your legs are going to be soaked in sweat. My dress is heavy silk satin and even in air conditioning down South my legs get sweaty.
  • I wore a silk Vera Wang dress to my last wedding in Vegas in August... it was ok, but hot. Anything will be hot! Silk wrinkles, though. I'm going with satin this time to avoid the wrinkles.
  • In most cases, the alternative to silk is polyester, which isn't exactly breathable either. But it's not so much the material that gets hot, as it is the crinoline underneath.

  • Oh yeah, you're going to die.  Maybe find something in a chiffon??
  • Thanks very much Ladies!! I think that I'll research the various options - hoops vs. crinoline, perhaps having a different liner, etc.  Goodness knows that I don't want to be out there SWEATING!! :)
