Too hot for SPANX

Hello LadiesMy Baltimore wedding is coming up in just a few weeks and I still don't have any undergarments picked out. I was going to wear spanx, as my dress is mermaid shaped, but it has occurred to me in the last few fittings that I will be extremely hot (read: sweating profusely) under my gown. I want to avoid sweat rolling down my thighs and/or getting diaper rash between my legs at my wedding. But I also want as little under there as possible. Please help!!!

Re: Too hot for SPANX

  • I agree with FutureABW about the spanx. I specifically bought them for my outdoor May wedding in Florida so my legs didn't chafe from the heat and sweat and they worked like a charm. No matter what I did I would have still been sweaty because it was freaking hot but those spanx really helped out. I just made sure at the end of the night I took them off before DH saw me (not a pretty site!).

  • They are a real biaatch to try to get on when they are sweaty, I just learned this by wearing them to a wedding this wknd :( Im considering not using them on the wedding day, they ddi make me fairly hot & I hate pulling up/on something that feels damp & sweaty. yuckbut then again, I think mine are maybe a tad bit small for me so maybe thats why haha
  • I wear spanx quite a bit, under dress pants and skirts. I don't find them to be uncomfortable or excessively hot, even in the middle of summer.Get the right size, that's the most important thing. Getting a size smaller in hopes that it will suck you in more is counter-productive, as it just creates bulges. Opt for the one that goes from the bra line to mid-thigh (Higher Power, I think it's called). It has a split cotton crotch... no need to pull it up or down to use the bathroom so long as you don't wear anything underneath. Yes, you'll likely sweat, but you're probably going to sweat anyway. So it's better to have something to help absorb the sweat and prefent the thigh chafing.Additionally, it's important to wear some kind of shapewear underneath your dress so it will lay properly on your body. Spanx are FAR less material than other shapewear, like real corsets or Flexees.
  • I highly recommend Higher Power Panties or just Power Panties for your lower half by Spanx. They are really comfortable and the material is really breathable. My friends and I actually refer to them as our "summer spanx" :)

  • Another vote for Higher Power!Trick to getting them on:Remember how you used to put on panty hose, you'd scrunch them up all the way down to the toe? Do that with the spanx- scrunch them up to the end of the leg hole then step in, get the end of the leg hole adjusted in the right place, do the other side, then pull them up. Don't just step in and start pulling, it makes it more difficult! :)
