How far in advance to make dress appointments?

My bridesmaids and I plan to spend Sept. 26th checking out wedding dresses. How far in advance do I need to set up appointments at dress shops? Is a week sufficient?

Re: How far in advance to make dress appointments?

  • Yeah, you can likely call just a few days before and should be fine!
  • The best case scenario is probably to just call the places you want to visit and see if they will see you with or without an appt.  I have only had to make 1 or 2 appts. The other shops have let me just show up and all have been wonderful!

  • I made an appointment, but I'm buying my gown out of town, so it was almost necessary. One week is time enough. Good luck.
  • 1 week should work especially if you are going on a fri/sat/sun. If you want a wednesday its probably not as busy. All of the places in my area ny/nj require appointments.
  • Hey Mle, I'm going out on September 26th to look at dresses too! I called the one place already and made an appointment, but I haven't at the other stores yet. I plan on going to 3, and I really wasn't sure how long each place will take so I'm hesitating. Good Luck!
  • Hi, I dont usually post over here but I am just starting my dress hunt. I actually just went through this today. I wanted to go to the Pronovias Flagship and Kleinfelds in NYC on a Saturday in October. Both stores only had one appointment left on the 10th and they were at the same time so I had to make my appointments for the 24th. So if you are going to multiple stores I would call ASAP since apparently I needed 6 weeks!
