Help! Can't Decide Between Two Dresses!

They both look very different on then in these pictures and unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take pics when I tried them on. I like both and am so confused about which is right for me. I'm having a very small outdoor wedding ( by a lake and trees) . I'm a petite 5'5" and would like to wear a mantilla veil  ( something like this -http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30609182&ref=sr_gallery_7&&ga_search_query=mantilla&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title)These are the two dresses I am torn between:http://www.stylemepretty.com/lookbook/watters-and-watters/wedding-dresses-spring-2009/acapulco/http://www.edressme.com/cm0023.html#The second is half the price of the first and has a much more flattering bust and romantic look about it but I'm worried the empire waist makes it not very flattering anywhere else.  The first has incredibly beautiful lace and would flatter my figure more ( i think) everywhere except the bust. It also shows quite a lot of skin but with a long mantilla veil it really completes the look. What do you think?!

Re: Help! Can't Decide Between Two Dresses!

  • I could only get the 2nd dress to come up
  • oh Sorry! Part of the link is on the next line down ( last word should spell acapulco/) If it still doesn't work you can find it by going to www.stylemepretty.com - then go to Galleries, then Look Book, then Watters and the dress style is called Acapulco. Thanks!
  • Of the two, I like #2 better, but without pictures of you in it it's hard to say which would flatter YOU more.  How did you feel in each one?  If you felt more comfortable in one over the other, go with whichever that one is.  Personally, I think the bust on each is very very similar, so I think that if you don't like how the first one flatters your bust, you can have it altered to fit better.

  • I really love the first gown...I think that the lace is more bridal and it looks like it would really flatter a petite bride. I am also very petite so if it were me, I would definitely go with the first gown. The second gown is really beautiful too, but the extra line of fabric in the front kind reminds me of someone who may be trying to hide a baby bump. Either would work perfect for your small, outdoor wedding :) Good luck!
  • I like the first. Especially with that vail. Both are pretty, but the first is stunning.
  • the first one is gorgeous, but i think you would need to very slim to carry that one off. the diagonal lines that cut across the lower part of the bodice at the hip level draw attention to that area, so if you have even a tiny little tummy, it would stick out. dress 2 is definitely more forgiving, and still a very pretty style. nicole miller always has some nice bridal styles.
  • I think the first one would look best with the veil. The dress is really pretty, but I don't like the way the top is cut. I wonder if they could add a little fabric to the top? #1 is def. a prettier dress IMO.
  • Again hard to tell without you in it however the first one looks a little bare for my taste, I like the second one better. I think it looks more bridal.
  • I definitely like dress #2 better.  #1 is just way too bare/naked/slinky for me, and I don't care for the random lines/seems it has.  But, I don't know that #2 would go as well with a mantilla veil.
  • I like #1 best by a mile.  It's so pretty and feminine and looks more bridal.  It also would look nice with the lace mantilla veil whereas the second one wouldn't.  I do agree with previous posts that #1 will not be forgiving on a tummy at all and I also think it's meant for a modest bust.  If thats not your body type I would go with #2 or keep looking. GL!
  • not crazy about either, but definitely like #1 more.

  • Yea one is better but you better have a body like the model to wear either one of them.  THanks for making the links clicky.
  • I like #1 but not the weird "lines" in it. Number 2 reminds me of a "pijama" my mom use to wear for bed, for my taste I dont like it to much.
  •  Thanks everyone for your replies! I ended up choosing No. 1 (the lace gown) and put the deposit down yesterday. I tried it on for the third time to confirm that it does look good on me and now i have no doubts that its the right dress for me. I realized that I couldn't stop thinking about it and was comparing other dresses to it and that if I bought something else I would always wonder if I should've gotten No. 1 instead. I also realized that part of the reason I was even considering No. 2 was just because I really like Nicole Miller dresses in general and it was so affordable- not the right reason to pick that dress basically! I really recommend trying a dress on multiple times, especially if the sample is way too big for you. I found that because I had a different person clamping the dress up for me each time it fit very differently each time, which is what gave me all my doubts about the dress at first. Fitted and altered I'm now confident it will be perfect. So excited! Thanks again.
  • Haha! Just realized that the second paragraph in my post above also sounds like how to pick between the right and wrong guy!Just change "I really like Nicole Miller dresses in general" to "I really like New Yorker guys in general" and the words "so affordable" to "so good looking" or "so rich"
