best dress for a curvy bride?

I am hoping that some people might be able to share some photos of brides in larger size dresses. I'm an 18 and have been told not to assume that I will get smaller at the same time that I am planning a wedding so I'm looking for dresses modeled by real plus sized ladies. Many dresses come in larger sizes but are shown on tiny models...that doesn't help me to get an idea about what styles might be the most flattering. Any ideas?

I actually felt best in a drop waist gown, it was the most flattering on me. Davids is a good place to start off they usually have a lot of larger sizes.

check out alfredangelo.com and look at their Bridal Plus collection. It shows the line of dresses on "real" size models. It'll give you a pretty good idea of how dresses will look.

Look on preownedweddingdresses.com and do a search for dresses in your size and see how those girls look in them.  You can get an idea of what looks good and what doesn't.  Also if you've seen the Sex and the City movie the one that Jennifer Hudson had on at the end was beautiful on her.

I think it's all about trial and error. I'm a street size 16 and it was very frustrating trying on gowns and getting nowhere with them. I realized that the key is finding an element that works for your body, and narrowing down your search from there. I would ask your local board to recommend a helpful salon that carries larger samples, and let them help you determine what features you need in a dress. I liked Maggie Sottero's "Coco" a lot since it was so modern, but while the waist-ruching worked on me the trumpet-ish cut did not. The beading near the midsection also called attention to that area, which made me look bigger. Sincerity Bridal has a lot of gowns cut for curvy frames that are very flattering.
