Fittings????

This may be a dumb question but I'm really not sure so I'm going to ask.  I found my gown online about $300 cheaper than in the salon.  My only worry is how do you do fittings when you get your dress online.  Do places that sell gowns still do fittings and alterations on gowns that were bought elsewhere? Any feed back is appreciated.

Re: Fittings????

  • That's a big savings, but you are going to have to find a local seamstress to do the alterations. Check with your local board they will probably have a few suggestions for you.
  • Ditto Vikki.Ask on your local for recommendations on independent seamstresses.
  • I think fit is everything, or nearly so.  If we're spending many hundreds to thousands on a gown, the fitting will probably be in the hundreds.  If it don't fit, it just ain't worth spending that much on a gorgeous gown to begin with.  This has to fit beautifully.  You seen some of the Bridezillas on the show? Their gowns fit miserably and they look absolutely ridiculous on their wedding day!
  • by the way, you look stunning amr! which designer? on the question of alterations, who did yours?? did you bustle up that train, 'cause it's kind of huge and amazing! by the way ladies -- bought my shoes yesterday at My Glass Slipper, sixth floor of a place in the East 20s (manhattan).  they have an exquisite selection of satin pumps, open and closed toe, with with jewels, that just dazzle.  my are something bleu.  and onky 31/4 inch heels so i can wear them all day, ya know, balanced well, etc. comfortable... and truly beautiful.  i'm psyched.  now if i can only add interest to the bottom of my maggie sottero michele dress (love the top and waistine), i'll be happy!
