i'm getting married at a state park facing the ocean (NH). the ceremony will be on a lawn, reception is at my parents an hour inland. the party will also take place on their lawn (unless a 'floor' is rented). so what kind of dress should i wear? BTW: wedding is next august. TIA.

what do you like long, short, puffy ball gown strapless????  august is hot so i would look at lighter materials like chiffon. also another factor would be budget. If you like light, flowy, romantic gowns, I totally picture that type. But, wear what you like and what looks good on you.

It's your wedding day and wear what you love! I was at first concerned about matching the feel or what not at first but after thinking about it, it's ridiculous - I am the bride! If I wanted to wear a ball gown, a short dress, colored gown, or whatever on my wedding day, I am going to wear it no matter what!    You only get to be a bride once (ideally), so wear what you love!  (But one thing: do think about the weather, that would be the only concern as you don't want to be drenched in sweat, either.)GL!

thank you all. i do like the light, flowy material. i'm not big into the princess ballgowns. the suggestion made my i'm not sure bc i can't go back at this point, but all of the sites posted or even a white bridesmaid dress is a great thought! thank you again.
