straight-neck line to semi-sweetheart? how easy to alter?

I'm afraid I'm starting to fall in love with David's Bridal Style: S8551 http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&catentryId=6096946 The ONLY thing really holding me back from commiting is the very straight neckline, and they say they will not alter their styles at all. Has anyone successfully altered a straigh-across neckline to be a bit more of a sweetheart neckline? Not necessarily a full one, but even more of a curve rather then so stark and straight? I know there are others out there like this (Maggie's Harlow for one! I love it) but I don't want to spend that much on something I'll wear for 3 or 4 hours... Thanks for any info!

  • I'm sure most seamstresses would be able to handle turning that into a sweetheart no problem.  As long as there isn't a ton of elaborate beading, it's usually pretty standard for them (or so I'm told).
  • Beautiful dress - very similar to my daughter's dress. The dress had a straight strapless neckline and the seamstress did a beautiful job making it into a sweetheart - cost us about $75.00 - well worth it. Totally changes the look of the dress. Check with your local board for seamstress recommendations in your area. GL
