How do I know if I need a slip for my wedding dress? Any other tips anyone can share?

    Actually, I'm going for non-poof. So I'm really not sure I need one?

    Have you tried your dress with and without a crinoline?  Compare and you'll know which one you like better.  I am guessing if you don't want poof, then you probably don't want to wear one, but try a crinoline on just to be sure.  I agree that it's totally up to you.
