Online buying??

I have just started looking online for my dress...not going shoping for another few months.  I notice a lot of you seem to buy online at a shop like Pearls Place....do you get the dress altered locally once you receive it? Is there a huge price difference? Do you try it on in a local store and then order online in the right size?I am just trying to save  some money but I would be worried about finding a good seamstress....has this method worked for any of you? Also all my BMs live in Ireland, where I am from, and I am debating whether to just buy their dresses here and let them get them altered back home? Or just let them shop on their own for the dresses....head melting already thinking about it!! has anyone else had this dilemma??Thanks in advance!!

Re: Online buying??

  • I didn't buy from pearls place but I have heard great things about the prices.  If you order there or online though definitely try it on in a store first.  You can check seamstress reviews by googleing them before you take your dress there.  It would be easiest if you tell your bms what color/type of dress and let them shop for it themselves.
  • Hi,Im from Ireland 2, and was wondering if you are living in America and ordering the dress there or living in Ireland, I am looking to buy a dress on line for the same reason as your self. Im not sure what part of Ireland you are from but I bought 3 fab bridemaids dresses in Galway (Tracy Bridals) for 30 euro each. Sheila
  • I tried on dresses locally and called Pearl's Place to place my order over the phone. The price was $750 cheaper than what any local store quoted me. It arrived in the mail in perfect condition and 2 months earlier than promised. I'm not sure if they ship internationally? You should call and ask.  Is there not a place in Europe similar to Pearl's Place?
  • Pearl's Place for me and my friends. They just were able to get a dress for a friend in two weeks and she was amazed. I posted this in another conversation, they rule.
  • No I live in Boston with my fiance and 9 month old son....but my BMs are all coming from Ireland - so I was not sure if it was bad idea to pick dresses for them here and ship back...I will be in Ireland 3 times before my own wedding so I could return them if they dont fit......its a bit of a hassle but what can you do! :)My sister is geting married next July so I might doa  bit of BM dress hunting at xmas when home with her...
