I just bought my dress but I am getting married in 2011

Hey! I just bought my dress at a sample sale and I want to preserve the dress but I don't want spend a lot of money. What I can I do to keep the dress in good condition for my 2011 wedding? any suggestion???? please help!

I've had mine for over a year, due to schedueling the wedding quite a bit later than we originally planned on, and the dress coming in ridiculously early (3 week wait only!).    Mine has been in the back corner of a dark closet, zipped up and away from any action (eg- my cats), and it's still doing fine.  You probably only need to do the same- just make sure it's in a secure bag, and out of the way of lots of touching, foot traffic or critters!

If its heavy you don't want to hang it because it will stretch out of shape. Best bet is to wrap it in a white sheet to keep it clean, and store it in a box.

My dress i stored for 4 years because of the cancelling. I bought an acid free garmet bag and acd free paper and wrapped the hem with the paper and made sure when I folded it there was acid free paper between everything. i put it in the bag and then put it in a box and when I was ready to let it go I dd and there was no discoloration or snags in the fabric. I too am a 2011 bride! My dress is scheduled to be here in early Dec. I plan on storing it under a bed in a spare bedroom, wrapped in a white sheet that I pre washed w/o detergent. I will not hang it as the other poster mentioned, mine is silk and will stretch out of shape if hung. I heard that plastic is bad, and the dress will need to breathe.
