Can't find my dream dress in a store

Hello ladies. I have found what I think is the dress, but I can't find a store that has the style in stock. I am not sure what to do. I could order it online, or have a store order it, but if I order it, I bought it. I don't want to do this incase it doesn't look like I imagine once I try it on. Any suggestions? I haven't found another dress that makes me react the way this one does. Here is a link to the dress. http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?C=1&D=2201&P=1

Re: Can't find my dream dress in a store

  • I have called every Bridal shop in the state that carries the designer and my mother has called all shops in Florida, where she lives. I guess I could contact the designer. I might try to call some shops in nearby states. It's getting a little disheartening, and I'm thinking I will just have to find another dress.
  • Bring the photo to some local salons and see if they have anything similar that you can try on. Or, who knows, they might have the actual dress. This happened to me ... I called ahead to a salon about a particular dress, and the receptionist said they had it. Once I got to the salon and was with the saleswoman, she said they no longer carried it. So I showed her a picture and asked if they had anything similar and she replied, "Oh! We have that!" Turns out she'd gotten confused because Maggie Sottero names their gowns, whereas the salon numbers them, so she didn't remember the name offhand. It's worth a shot. But if they only have similar styles, you can at least try those on and see if the overall style suits you. Some salons have a program where you can pay for a loaner sample to be shipped to the salon. If you decide to buy it, your loaner fee might be applied toward that dress. If not, you might be out a few hundred dollars ... or see if they'll apply that fee to another dress that you buy from the same salon.

  • I think some stores can order a sample dress so that a client can try it on. I have heard of girls on this board paying some nominal fee...like $20....to have it shipped. I think they get it from a different store or maybe even the manufacturer. If a store says they don't have it, follow up with asking if they can get it in for you to try on.Otherwise... I really think I have seen a few dresses like this one. I would start a new thread along the lines of...."what dress does this look like" or "Help find this dress" and see what responses you get. If you can try on dresses that look like this one- same sleeves, same silhouette and you find you look great in them then you may feel better about ordering this one- or you might fall in love with one of the look alikes.
  • I had the same problem.  I had my salon order in a sample for me.  It cost me like $50.00, which is worth it to me to make sure it was "the dress".
  • I'll have to try calling again. When I asked if the stores could order it, most said that they could but that I would have to buy it if they did. No one offered the sample, but it sounds like that might be an option. Thanks ladies.
  • I was looking for that dress to! I tried on San Patrick-Bagdad and the two are very similar. San Patrick is much more expensive and probably more hard to find, but at leas it will give you an idea of how it looks on you. Otherwise, Pronovias also has many dresses in that same style.
  • get a picture of the dress, preferrably front and back view, if possible then have the sides view as well.and get a seamstress to sew it for u.
  • kkaew816, did you pick your dress yet? It looks like we have the same taste. I'm curious to see what you decide on. I got a good news call yesterday. There was one shop that told me they had the dress, then when I called to make an appt they told me they did not have the dress, but would see if they could find it. I got a message last night from the saleswoman saying she had good news for me, so maybe my dress has been found!! Now I hope I love it as much on me as I do in the pictures.
  • I hope they have it!!! Sorry so late on replying. I actually decided to go with a different dress, but same style. I'm going with the Maggie Sottero Phillipa, similar style though, lace, mermaid, although the Phillipa is strapless. Good luck!
