Ordered dress- but now unsure

Hey ladies,About two months ago, I ordered my dress.  Here is a link to the dress: http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?style=SSM5236GI am small, about 100 pounds am i'm 5'2 with somewhat olive complexion.  I ordered the color that is ivory over light gold, which surprising is the dress that is shown in the picture.  What do you all think of the dress?

Re: Ordered dress- but now unsure

  • I like the dress, I think I even tried it on when I was looking. I love lace but it just didn't suit me. What is the style of your wedding?
  • This is the first dress that I tried on that I actually liked!  I ended up getting something else similar (I didn't like the corset back), but I think it's a great dress.  Why don't you go back to the store, try it on again, and make sure you still love it?   I bet you will!
  • I think your dress is very pretty!  I have a Lace Sottero and Midgley as well, style #RSM1032.
  • I think the dress is pretty, too, and the style of the dress should fit your petite frame well, also.  What is making you unsure about the dress?

  • It's very pretty!
  • i think probably every bride goes through guessing but once you get it and put it on again, you'll remember why you picked it. it's a beautiful dress, and there's usually just such a  long time inbetween ordering it and then getting to try it on again, that you forget what it's like. HTH :)
  • I agree with eskii- every bride goes through this buyer's remorse. I see other people's dresses sometimes and think to myself "I should've tried more dresses on." (Mind you I tried on about 80.) Just try to remember what you loved about it in the first place.
  • Thanks for all your reponses!  I think i'm nervous about the color of the dress being too yellowish, since it has a light gold underlay.  I wish I could go back to the store to try it on again, but the store didnt actually carry the dress.... I had it sent to the store on the 'loan" program which ships it out for you to try on and then they send it back again.  I had to be $25 for them to do that and they only sent it in the light gold underlay color, so i wasnt able to really see the dress in the other colors!
  • I think it's lovely and the color will go well with an olive skin tone - it's so normal to second guess. I certainly did. But it's a lovely gown and I have no doubt you'll fall in love with it when it comes in.
  • Are you sure that's the gold in there?  I have a maggie with ivory lace over light gold and it looks nothing like that picture, even online (the online picture of mine is definitely ivory/gold).  That looks more like it would be " Ivory with Champagne & Pewter accent over Ivory"It's a gorgeous dress though :)
  • I know what you mean now about being scared about the color... I tried on a Maggie dress with "light gold" underlay and I loved how the color makes the ivory lace pop.  I also think I have olive skin undertones and the color was VERY flattering.  However, I am having my bridesmaids wear sunny yellow, and standing next to each other, it really pulled a lot of the yellow from the "light gold" in my dress.  And I don't mean to alarm you, but I did NOT like how it looked.  I opted for a diamond white instead.  So unless your girls are wearing a yellow dress, you should be fine.  Your lace and beading detail will pop, and your skin tones will be complimented.
  • I'm having my bridesmaids wear chocolate brown.  Since they got their dresses at the same place where I got my gown, we actually got to have them stand next to my sample gown in the same shade of brown that they ordered their dresses in, and it looked awesome :)
  • I think i'm nervous about the color of the dress being too yellowishI had the same fear with mine. But one of my favorite things about it ended up being how it turned into a pretty yellow in the sunlight. If the color looks pretty with your skin tone, don't stress!I ahd buyers remorse, too. I even almost bought a backup dress. Now I am sooo glad I trusted my gut and kept my original dress. Good luck!
  • I think it's gorgeous. Delicate details.
  • Well my understanding is that the sample they sent out (which is the color I ordered) is the same one as the online picture.  The picture online looks a lot more white, which I like, but I dont think it looks the same as my dress.  My bridesmade dresses are a cashmere/champagne color.
