what do i do?

So far I have gone shopping for a dress once. I only went to two places and found one in each that I really like. I am going to be doing more dress shopping but I'm not really sure what to look for in the other stores because the two dresses that I really liked are very different.. Any suggestions? The two top dresses are below..(so you can see just how different they are). I would post the ones of me but I don't want them anywhere FI might see them, just in case :)This one is the DaVinci. (more fitted on my hips than the model's)and this is the Bonnyi'm not yet trying to decide which one i like better but I really don't know what to look for in other stores because my likes are all over the place. I thought that would change after I tried some on but it didn't..tia for your help  :)

  • Just keep trying on different styles. You may find one that trumps even these two. Two very gorgeous, very different dresses by the way! Love 'em! How far off is your wedding? Do yu have time to shop around?
  • I like the top one best but if you really like both maybe you could try something in between?  There's Maggie Sottero's Dallashttp://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?pageSize=100&page=2&style=J1099
  • yes I have time to shop around and am planning on it. I guess I will just continue with the things I know I don't like until I find one that surpasses everything else.

  • And duh, now I see your counter. You have some time. I'd keep trying on different styles just to see what suits you best.
  • Well, what do you like best about each dress? The neckline, the pickups/lace, trains, beading? If you go to other stores, I'd bring out printouts of these dresses (and the pics of yourself if you have them) and tell the saleswomen what you liked about these dresses.

  • Maybe keep a photo of each of the dresses when you go.  JMO, but I like the DaVinci better.  I'm not a fan of pick-ups.
  • Think about what your wedding theme is. Or how you want your wedding to look. The dress can determine what style you want for your wedding. And vise versa.

  • Honestly, what worked best for me in the end was to play stupid.  Go in and say, "I have no idea.  What do you think I'd look good in?" and see what the consultant comes up with.I thought I wanted a satin dress with pleating and no beading or lace.  I wound up with a beaded lace dress with no pleating because I tried on something totally out of my comfort zone and loved it.

  • My consultant actually picked my dress- I never would've picked it myself in a million years.  Between the two dresses, i see that both a sweetheard/modified sweetheart neckline, and are close to the body through the hips, with an A-line.  The bottoms are really what are most drastically different, silhouette-wise. Keep those two in mind, but try on a variety of dresses.  Like a PP said, ask the attendants what they think would look great on you- you may be surprised like I was!
  • I would consider what fits with your wedding style best and also what seems more like something you would wear. For example, I found a satin gown that I thought looked really good on me, but ultimately that wasn't my vision of myself as a bride. In my head I was wearing lace, and that prompted my choice. Good luck!
  • They both are pretty dresses!! I agree with the pp. That Maggie dress is really beautiful too!! GL!

  • I really like the first one, I think the second one is hideous. You should try different styles on and see what suits you best, there are a mutlitude of choices : A line, Ballgown, Mermaid, Sheath, sleeves, halter, asymmetric etc etc.Once you know what style suits your body then you can start to make choices on the colour, beading, trim, train etc.Ask to try on a mixture of styles to start with and then narrow it down from there
