Moms dress, needs some updating

So, I'm wearing my moms wedding dress. It's a simple lace dress with a white underlay. The underlay goes up to above my bust, so it looks as if it's a straight strapless. But then it has just the lace over it creating a sort of peasant/bib effect. It's high on the neck and has sleeves. It's gorgeous, but my wedding is on the beach so it doesn't really work. I wanted to take the bib, sleeve, and neck part off but leave it in one piece so it can be added back on after the wedding. Then it would be strapless. And I also wanted to add boning so it'll stay up. It can be done, my mom is a seamstress and looked at it herself. But I don't want her to do it. So basically, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to find an alteration place who can do this, or if you know one in the Southern California area. Around Orange County, Los Angeles, or Inland Empire. Since it's my moms dress, I need someone I can trust with it, especially with keeping it intact. Any help????

Ask at a local bridal shop...many of them have seamstresses who can easily do this...especially during the "off season" (right now) Also, see if there is a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists near you...they specialize in this kind of thing. Good luck and enjoy!

My seamstress is in SA now but used to work in CA. If I remember correctly, she goes back and still does work there but she specalizes in what you are looking for, remaking a vintage dress for today's bride. She is AMAZING! I had a brand new dress but she took it from a straight across neckline to sweetheart and from A-line to mermaid, beautiful bustle. She is a great person, I miss her now that my alterations are over.
