Must have PERFECT body for silk sheath???

I saw a picture of this dress online.  It looks to be charmeuse.  I'm guessing it will show EVERY bump and lump.  I'm fairly petite but short waisted (5'1", 105lbs).  Just picture a straight board with arms and legs...lol.  Should I just stay away and admire from afar?  Undecided

  • Those are usually very unforgiving dresses, but go try one on in a boutique and see how you like it.
  • I agree with Misshart. Those dresses are very unforgiving, and they also don't "give" you a shape. So, if you are square or otherwise curve challenged, that style won't give you much help.

I think you do need a darn near perfect body but at 5'1", 105, I'd consider that "darn near perfect". :)
  • Extraordinarily unforgiving--however, if you have the right body type to carry it (and with some handy dandy shapewear) it might look good on you! Give it a try :)

  • Yup my first thought when I saw that dress was, "spanx." Definitely try it on!

I think that all depends. Just because someone is thin, doesn't mean they aren't shaped boxy, or carry the little amount of weight they do have in odd places.  Plus at that height, it is sometimes harder to pull off certain styles.  You never really know until you try it on.
  • I say Spanx it up and give it a try.  You never know!

  • that dress is absolutely beautiful.

I have never tried one on so I have no idea, I say give it a shot, it can't hurt.

I agree with this.  You need to have the right balance of having curves but too much curves since those dresses will show pretty much everything.

Your best bet is to try a dress or two on of that style and see what you think.

  • I say try it on you never know. My good friend wore a similar dress and she is a size 14/16 and it looked amazing on her, dresses are so funny with who they look good on.

  • if that's what  your heart desires I say throw on some spanx and head to a salon and try it out! If you're anything like me if you don't try one on in that style you'd wonder "what if" so get it out of the way. you never know you might love it and then it would be so worth looking!
