Veil?

Just wondering how many brides are planning on wearing a veil.. I had considered it but my then found out my fiance actually hates them, thinks they're really ugly and old-fashioned. My sister got married a few weeks ago, nixed the veil for a hair flower and looked amazing. Still have a few lingering doubts though.. will I feel less like a bride without a veil?? Has anyone not worn a veil and later wished they had?

Re: Veil?

  • Im not planning on one.... its a presonal preference... i dont like things in my face. I like the look of them on some people and with some dresses, its just not for me.
  • I didn't wear one, and had no regrets. I had a beautiful hairpiece in my wedding colors made instead.

It ended up being one of my favorite parts of my wedding day attire. Also, I love that I can still wear it with several of the formal dresses I have, so I'm still enjoying it after the wedding.

  • I think I'm going to wear a veil to the ceremony and switch to a hairpiece for the reception..that way I get to try both!
  •  I am going to wear the veil to the ceremony and take it off for the reception, but I am not going to have it over my face. The veil is my something borrowed from my sister. Good luck with your choice.
  • I was planning on not wearing a veil, but now I think I might.  FI said when he pictured me on our wedding day, I had one (this was before I told him I wasn't planning on wearing one).  And the more I think about it, the more I kind of want to.  It's not like I'll ever have another occasion to wear one, and I love how a veil blowing in the breeze comes off in pictures (we're having an outdoor ceremony).

I wouldn't get a blusher or anything, because like PPs, I don't like things in my face.  But I like the look of a half-up, half-down 'do with the veil put in the back.

  • I wore one. For me I knew I would regret not wearing a veil. I did cut it close and I ended up getting it the day before the wedding. I am glad I did. Though I have seen some beautiful hairpieces that look amazing too. Birdcage veils are a good alternative to a long veil. I personally didn't give any say into my look to DH. I know some girls on here want their opinion but at the end of the day I needed to be happy and I knew he would think I was beautiful no matter what I was wearing.

  • I plan to wear a fingertip length veil, I had 1st thought about not wearing one but I saw how it looked on me when I tried on dress and I loved it.  It's not going to be over my face though. I plan to wear my hair down and curled
  • I showed FI some veil pictures and he said some of them weren't "that bad" lol.. I think I"ll try on a few once I get my dress and let that be the decider. I guess you really don't know how you'll feel about any attire until you try it on!
  • I am going to wear a single tier fingertip length veil for the ceremony (no blusher), and a birdcage veil with a fasinator for the ceremony.
