Beach Wedding - GM Attire

I am struggling with what my groom & GM should wear for our June beach wedding in Georgia!
We are getting married on the beach, but the reception is next to a lighthouse. I am NOT doing a "beach" theme - I'm shooting for slightly preppy with simple beauty. Lots of navy and white with some small pops of bright pink.

My bridesmaids are wearing a dress of their choice in navy. (only stipulations were no cotton, no satin.) I have a tulle gown.

I'm torn between having the guys wear full-on tuxes (in gray) or perhaps just having my groom wear a gray or khaki suit and the guys in matching suit pants with white shirts/navy ties. I don't want to look back at our pictures and think they look ridiculous, but I hate the thought of not having the guys all match in tuxes!

Who else has had/is having a beach wedding... what have you decided to do?

  • I am not having a beach wedding but I live at the beach and see so many! For a hot temperature wedding, a lot of brides do lightweight suits, or khaki's, I think you can find some beautiful lightweight suits in navy. You could even have them do Navy suit jackets and khaki pants.

Or GM wear khakis with white shirts and navy ties, your groom whears khakis with a navy suit jacket and no tie.

  • Thanks ladies! I was honestly thinking a suit would be best from the start, but the sales associate at Men's Wearhouse was so aghast at that thought that I started to second-guess my gut.

Now I need to find suits within a safe budget for our guys!

  • Another option?  If you're going for a preppy look, maybe you could have the men wear tan trousers with navy blazers, white shirts, and pink&navy striped (or other patterned) ties.  If it's crazy hot, they can ditch the blazer....but I think the tan trousers/navy blazer look is really cute and preppy:-)

  • Gray slacks and an aqua dress shirt with gray tie was what the groomsmen and groom wore. The groom also then had a gray jacket. My pictures came out fine and everyone looked cohesive even though the groomsmen did not have the additional jacket. It would have been too warm anyway and I can imagine they wouldn't have liked it very much! My groom just did as he was told. ;)

  • We did a linen almost cream colored suit... he bought it at Men's Warehouse.  It was kind of hard for us to find light weight suits to rent- many stores in our area do not rent them, they have to be purchased.
  • Im having a beach wedding and my Fiance will ear khaki  or gray pants with the matching vest and white under shirt .... Best man ummmmm Im still not 100% sure . Im getting married in Miami in April so it will be hot . A linen suit would also be an option but defo gray or khaki ... I think black is too formal for a beach wedding ... IMO :)

  • Men's Wearhouse is awful that way!  I've gotten no less than 6 calls from them (got my number from David's Bridal) asking what type of tuxes I want, have I gotten my tuxes yet, etc.  From the beginning I've just wanted nice grey suits since it's a morning wedding and don't want it too formal.  We found some nice ones at JC Penneys.

  • I'm having a beach wedding and my groom and dad are wearing tuxs (black) and the GM are wearing kahki pants and a nice white button down shirt of there choosing.
He stole my heart... So I'm stealing his last name.
