Old Wedding Dress Made New

I have two dresses from my grandmother and mother. I am a size 8 and both of these dresses are atleast a size 16. I am looking for someone to do alterations to the dress to make them more modern, basically like sleeve removal and alterations. I am looking to see if someone is near Lexington, KY that can do this. But I am willing to travel as far as Louisville, Cincinnati or even Nashville or Knoxville to find someone who can help me. If anyone can make any suggestions that would be very helpful.

You should post this on the local board for that region.
  •  Most people will suggest you check the Local Boards, but the KY board is absolutely dead.

Just googling Lexington KY Seamstress gets you several results. Inta's Alterations has some good reviews on Google.

Maybe a dress shop could recommend someone, or, it's kind of a long shot, but you could probably go to a quilt shop/fabric store and ask for recommendations. Seamstresses may be regular customers there.

  • Oh, and don't skip over looking in Berea for bigger cities. They have a wonderful artisan population, and I'd bet you could find someone really good there.
