Huge skirt... it's so hot underneath. Any solutions?

I've gotten my dress and it's absolutely gorgeous. However, even after wearing it for a half hour it's absolutely hot underneath, is there anything I can do to remedy this without having to resort to scratchy, light material?

  • I have the same problem. Huge Ball gown dress with its own tulle, then add a huge peticoat. I am in Cali and getting married outside next Sunday in the sun. YAY. I will most likely ditch the peticoat after the dancing gets started, that should help. That and I hope my venue has the A/C on lol
  • I'm adding a hoop to my gown, your options really depend on the cut of your dress though.

Get a hand held fan and whenever you get a moment fan yourself LOL. I also have this problem with my dress. I don't really think there is a solution. Just grab and shake your skirt when you can to air yourself out. HTH!!

Sorry, should have asked what was underneath. I don't remember what it is, just that I loved it, hehe...

  • You could definitely get a small hoop for under that.   Something like this --> CLICK

Make sure if you get an adjustable one though.  The first hoop I ordered for my dress was a fixed size and was WAY too big so I had to order a second smaller one.

  • I think you should try a hoop too..but don't go without either the hoop or the petticoat. If you ditch the petticoat, you risk the dress going between your legs when you walk...it'll look funny.
  • I twirled a lot out on the dance floor. People oohed and awed and thought it was pretty. Really, I was doing it to get a breeze going and cool off.
  • You could definitely put a small hoop under it, which would help.  You can get an adjustable one on amazon for under $30.
