     I have 4 male bridesmaids and 3 female. Unconventional? Sure, but I want my best friends up there with me, and 4 of those are dudes  

     

    My problem is that I'm marrying a scottish man and all the men in the wedding party will be wearing kilts. The kilt rentals will be costing more than the bridesmaid dresses. I feel kind of bad asking people to pay so much for an outfit that they don't even get to keep. Suggestions?

Okay, now for your question: I would ask each guy and girl what they would be comfortably willing to spend. If they tell you something way less than what the kilts would cost, then you need to either pick up the rest of the tab or talk to your FI about the men wearing something else.

Offer to cover part of the kilt rental.

Or, since they are your attendants and you can choose what they wear, ask them to wear their own black suits or rent a tux within their price ranges.

Well I think I'm going to stand firm on the kilts as they are important to us, and my fiance's family, but I think you're right about getting everyone's individual budgets and feeling it out from there. Thank you!
