Dress ordering online?

I've never heard of someone ordering their dress online, however, as there are sites for it, I guess some people do.

My question is, has anyone ever ordered a custom size dress from http://www.dressilyme.com and was your experance good?

Don't do it.  that is a knockoff site and there are RARELY good results from those knockoff sites.  You will likely get a gown that is poor quality, not even close to the dress in the picture, and that's if you get the dress at all.

Well, this is disappointing.

You can still find an adorable dress. What dress are you looking at and what is your budget?

There are plenty of affordable designers here or you can look at used.

try some of the used dress sites.  (see below for some links).  May brides sell their gowns after their weddings.  Also, lots of brides (including me) are indecisive and can't decide on a dress, so they buy two.  So, one of their dresses ends up being sold before alterations or ever being worn.  I'm currently selling an $815.00 dress for $300.00.    So, you can get major deals  !!

Also, try looking at salon sample sales.  Lots of salons are getting in their fall 2012 collections right now, and may be looking to unload the samples from the previous year's lines.    You can also try David's Bridal.  They have some nices dresses for less than $300.00, many for under $200.00.   They aren't going to be elaborate beading or detail, but they are very pretty dresses. 

If you haven't tried any dresses on yet, you might want to do that before you buy a used dress online, so you can get a feel for what actually looks good on you and what your gown size is.  Wedding gown sizing is often very different than your regular clothing size.  I am a street size 16, and my wedding dress was a 20.  I see brides here that have a street size of 4 and they end up buying a size 10 wedding dress.  It can vary between designers.

Try not to get discouraged.  there are bargains out there, you just have to hunt for them.  But, its better to hunt for them, then spend a couple hundred dollars on something that isn't wearable.

The top I can spend on my dress is $500 and I really don't want to spend that much. The less I spend, the better because no matter what I do, I'll have to pay for a tailor as well because I'm really short and oddly proportioned. 

We're going for a budget wedding in general, to be honest.

As for the dress, it's for a fall wedding so it has to have sleeves at either 3/4 or full length (and that's partially so it covers my not so pretty arms). I have a large chest so I need something with straps that can handle that. Also, I want something that has enough of a skirt where my hips don't look so big (princess, ballgown, and a-line look to be my options).

If you post a picture of the dress you were looking at on the knockoff site, we may be able to help you identify the original designer, which may help your search for a used/sample.

There's no one single dress I was looking at, rather a bunch of them and trying to figure out how to make them more suitable to my, er, problems. 

They had a jacket that would have worked well on that site so I was planning to get it if the sleves were not long enough for my final choice or some long gloves or a corset. 

I was also going to get color changes on some of these to match my wedding colors of pink and blue.

It's not like I'm in a rush. We haven't picked the ring or anounced an engagument yet so we have no societial obligation to hurry.

Definitely don't!  I just warned a bride on the E board and will post pics of the knockoff BM dresses that I just got, not realizing that they weren't actually wholesale.  Check for sales or on the classifieds board, or Craigslist, for second hand dresses for a fraction of the cost!

Davids Bridal has sales for wedding dresses often, sometimes as low as $99. I would also check out department stores for great dresses that are cheaper. Anne Taylor, Limited, and other brands have wedding dresses as well. Also look at Etsy for qualified seamstresses for custom gowns at reduced prices.
