Veil "RULES"

I have a long veil (chapel length) and went to my first fitting tonight. The seamstress tried to argue with me that it wasn't long enough because it has to be as long as/longer than the train (and mine isn't). Is this true?! I never knew such rules existed... did anyone have a long (a little past the floor) veil but still not as long as their train?  I wanted to say... If I want a zig zag veil or the left side long and right side short to my ear I CAN because it's MINE! haha

Re: Veil "RULES"

  • Nope, no such rule.

  • I seriously think she was trying to scam me into buying one of their veils! They already got me by having me order a dress that was clearly going to be too big! And it was... So 470 for alterations...
  • I think Kate Middleton's veil wasn't as long as her dress... I noticed because I'd been told the veil was to be as long as the train. But thats also like saying the bride in old times wore their hair down on their wedding day as a sign of virginity. I mean, its pretty silly to say there is a rule in my humble opinion.

Kate Middleston's veil was only fingertip I believe.

Here is a pick of the different lengths of veils.  Your veil not being longer then your train will most likely make your veil chapel length instead of cathedral length.  In the end, tell the woman to shut it because you love your veil and like you said, if you wanted to wear it bunched up like a birds nest on top of your head then you can because it is your veil.

  • Agree - wear whatever you want and makes you feel good!  Your wedding!

    Anniversary

  • Mine is fingertip length, I specifically didn't want one as long as my train because then it covers up my gorgeous train!!!  Plus that's a lot to drag around all night IMO I just favor the shorter ones ;)
