Engraving rings

I just bought my fiance's wedding band and am planning on getting it engraved. I'm not sure if I should have the jewelry store (helzberg) engrave it or another store that specializes in engraving. Any advice?

Thanks!

Re: Engraving rings

  • If they offer engraving, I would use the store I purchased it from.  This way if they mess anything up they can replace the ring.

  • A lot of the chain stores like that void your warrenty if you have things done outside of their store.  I'm not sure if engraving counts, but I know that when I went to get my e-ring sized it was going to take 3 weeks at Kay's where its from.  I called their 1-800 number and asked what would happen if I just brought it to a local jeweler to get sized and they said it would void my warranty.  So its definitely something I would check on if I were you.

What are you thinking of having engraved onto it?  We had our bands engraved with the others initials and our wedding date.  There isn't much room on them for much else if there are diamonds in it or designs.  Ours turned out great from Kay's.  I don't know what an engraving specialist is used to doing, but you have to figure these jewelers engrave rings all the time, so I'd probably consider them professionals too.
