Where do you go to have a wedding dress pressed/steamed?

Add this to my list of things that I realized I need to get done last minute...

I know I'll need to ask people local to me to get specific reccommendations, but I was just wondering, do I take it to like... a regular cleaners? That would make me really nervous... my dress doesn't really look that wrinkled or anything. Do I need to have it pressed or steamed? Can I do this myself? Should I do it myself?

I already had my alterations done, but I didn't think about asking the seamstress about this. Maybe she did press it for me? I'm confused... help?

Call your seamstress and see if she can recommend someone local. If not ask your local board to recommend a dry cleaners that will do a good job near you.

You will have to wait till last minute because it will have to hang up so as not to get wrinkled again. Good Luck!

  • The owner of the boutique where I bought my dress said to bring it back and she'd do it. Maybe even check out the store where you got yours.

  • Yeah... mine's from David's Bridal, I looked on their website, and it doesn't look like a service they offer (plus, it'd probably be overpriced, like their alterations).

I'll probably check yelp for a reputable dry cleaners... my local board is kind of dead :( I just wanted to make sure looking up dry cleaners was the right route. Thanks ladies!
  • I don't know about your DB specifically, but mine offers steaming/pressing.  It's included in the alteration cost, but it sounds like you took yours elsewhere to be fixed.  They should offer the steaming service at your store even if you didn't get alterations there.  In VT it costs about $40.
