XP: With or without sash? PIP

Hi all!

When I first bought my dress, I was convinced I wanted a dress with a black sash. I loved the idea of it, and bough black satin shoes that I love as well.

However, all of a sudden I'm torn. I'm scared it might look dated, and I think that my dress might be more flattering without the sash?
What say you? Sash or no sash?

  • I like it better without the sash.  If you think it's too plain, you could try an ivory sash with some bling on it.  I find the black too jarring (though, I am not ever a fan of dresses with color)
  • Without, definately.

The sash makes your waist look quite a bit wider, I think.  Not flattering.

<div>Yeah, I agree with the wide waist - I think it's the fact that the waist is a rather high natural waist to begin with is just not helped by the sash...</div>

I like it better without the sash.  If you think it needs something then I suggest a sparkly belt but not something that has a long tail in the back like in the model picture.

<div>100% and I think the black brings so much attention to your waist that it makes you look wider than you are. Definitely try a white or ivory sash. That's what I did to add some detail. </div>
  • Or, if you're really wanting some black, you could try a tiny black ribbon "sash" where the bodice connects to the skirt. You know, where the white ribbon seam is. Or a little black brooch flower.

  • I like it better without the black sash. If you wanted a sash I would do a light colored one but definatly not black, its not flattering.
