Groom & groomsmen ideas?

Anyone have any good sites for me to look at for ideas on shirts/ties and overall looks for groomsmen?  I've already picked out a tux I'll be wearing but no idea on the shirt/tie or what I want my GM's to wear and I can't find anything good online.

Re: Groom & groomsmen ideas?

  • I would try the menswarehouse.com

We went through there for all of our GM tuxes and they have a cool website where you can actually "dress" your guys and play around with colors, patterns, etc. But I think Calvin Klein and some of the other suit makers also have tuxes as well. I would just take a look on their websites.
  • My guys aren't even wearing tux's (outside in June in the south). They are wearing black pants, button up shirt (excact color TBD), grooms men will wear one color tie, best men will wear another color and they'll all wear suspenders. It gives it a nice classic look without having to do the full suit/tux and burn up.
  • The build-a-tux tool on the Men's Wearhouse site was really helpful for us.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • What are your wedding colors? I always think simple is best. If your wedding is formal(ish), maybe think about a cravat instead of a tie, which I think looks fab. Or maybe you go in a black shirt with a white tie, and have the GM in the reverse, which I also think can look really cool.
  • Basically just gold; the bride is white of course, and white bouquet, the girls will be wearing "champagne" which looks gold to me and carrying flowers that are a mix of red and white roses.  The restaurant we're having the ceremony in is mostly.

I was actually wondering what it would look like with black shirt and white tie because I like that idea but thought it would look awkward under a tux.  I do wnat to wear a traditional tie because that's just what I like, no bow tie or anything else.

  • I prefer a simple tie, too.  This looks nice- just very simple and elegant-

Here's another, although I think I prefer a black vest, the champagne can get a bit "matchy matchy"

I thought you might like a cravat, if you like ties- I think it's a really nice look, and if the GM are in more simple ties of the same shade, it would work well, and make you stand out a bit as the groom-

I just find cravats incredibly sexy, like, a tie is cotton panties and the cravat is the lace thong of men's formal wear.  But then, maybe that's just me? ;)
