bare back

Hi I purchased a beautiful beaded corest ballgown. question should I remove the flap that covers my back or should i keep it on?

Re: bare back

  • I'd say leave it on, think corseted dresses look awkward with skin showing through the laces.  Personally, it just makes me think of underwear.
  • I hate when the flap is removed.  It looks a bit on the skanky side IMO...not that you are a skank but that is what I think of when I see brides in a corset top and their whole lower back showing through the laces.

Also, depending on how low the corset goes your underwear may start showing at the bottom if you don't use the flap.

  • Ditto PPs, I think skin through corsets looks kind of trashy (and this is coming from someone who had a completely backless dress).  I thing it's because it makes it look like ill-fitting underwear, and not something that was designed into the dress.  Keep the fabric.

  • I don't think not having the modesty panel looks skanky, but it's definatly very informal.  I'd keep it for your wedding dress.

  • I might remove mine when it's time for dancing and partying (August wedding, it will be blistering hot)  but I'd leave it in for the majority of the wedding if I were you.

  • ok I guess it's decided I'll keep the flap. thanks for opinions
