Wedding Shoes

I bought my shoes from Davids Bridal. I bought the size that fits me, but the strap that goes around the back of my foot is too big. I punched another hole in the shoe at the very bottom, but it still was falling off my heel. So I took it to a shoe repair man and he cut off about an inch of it and sewed it back together. I thought it was much better, but apparently not - It still keeps falling off.

The strap does nothing for my foot at all.....I dunno why they even put them on there, but I don't want it to fall off during the ceremony.

Please help if you have any quick ideas of how to fix it.

I would imagine that makes the shoes fairly uncomfortable. The last thing you want on your wedding day are uncomfortable shoes. If I were you, I would probably cut my losses and purchase a new pair of shoes, perhaps without an ankle strap. It sounds like you've already done everything in your power to make this pair work.

At this point, I highly doubt DB will take them back since you've altered them, but you could always call and ask. You could at least see if they would be willing to give you a discount of any sort if you buy a replacement pair of shoes there, since you were dissatisfied with your original purchase.

  • I was seriously considering buying a pair of shoes from David's Bridal but I had the exact same problem and ended up not getting them because of it. I felt like when I walked in them they were going to fall off and didn't want to deal with that all night. If I were you I would just scratch them a buy a new pair.
  • Considering you have already taken it to shoe repair, I agree with the other ladies. Scratch them and buy a new pair. I bought my shoes from DB and they were actually really comfortable and fit well. They didn't give me blisters, which is what dress shoes often do to me. But I know everyone is different. I hope you find a new pair that fits well.

This always happens to me. I guess we have difficult heels, or something. I'd find yourself another pair with an ankle strap. You shouldn't have to spend your wedding day wondering if you'll pull a Cinderella and leave your shoe behind somewhere.

  • hmmm When i tried on DB shoes I had the same ominous feeling that they didn't plan to stay on my feet. Good thing I didn't buy them.

I am having trouble finding shoes that are a nice height but still comfortable. I have a terrible time trying to put inserts etc in my shoes so I need to make sure I'm gonna survive the ceremony at least.
Any thoughts on comfy high heels?
