MOB dress

What color should MOB wear if my bridemaids are in Black and my weddign colors are red black and white?

Re: MOB dress

  • Personally, I wouldn't go with black because I've been told that you don't want the MOB/MOG to match with the bridesmaids. They should be kept separate.

You should at least try to coordinate MOB and MOG in same color shading category...It is usually a courtesy for the MOB to find a dress, and then inform the MOG the choice she makes so that the MOG will know what to get and not clash.

For example, my wedding color is silver and dark purple. My bridesmaids are wearing purple. My mother is wearing a bluish green gown and my future mother in law is wearing navy. Their dresses are also in the same formality category so they know they will not either "underdress" or "overdress" because they're in the same category.
  • My colors are black and white.  My BMs are in black.  My mother is wearing a floor length black gown.
  • The mothers should wear whatever color looks good on them. Traditionally the MOB chooses her dress first and the MOG coordinates length, style, and color to be complementary to the MOB's dress.
  • Moms get to wear what they want.  If she asks for your opinion, then you can help her pick something, but until she asks, just assume she can dress herself.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
