Ordering the dress too soon or too late?

My wedding is not until summer of 2011. I have found my dress but I am hesitant to order it. I am sure I will be losing lots of weight in the next few months due to illness. I am not even sure what size I should even order it in. What if the size I choose is to big or small. What if I order it when the bridal shop advises and I can fit it close to the wedding. I am nervous about ordering too soon but putting it off til later seems just as bad. What do you advise?

I haven't ordered mine yet, but my wedding isn't until November.  With your wedding over a year away, I would definitely wait.  I know if you order the dress now and you actually do lose a lot of weight, there is such a thing as ordering too big of a dress that can't be altered to fit.  I've seen ppl on here selling dresses that they purchased and then were too big and couldn't be altered.

on the other hand, if you love the dress, you do not want it to sell out or be discontinued before the 2011 wedding...sticky situation here...I would maybe wait at least a few months and see how you are feeling--is it still the dress of your dreams?  have you lost any weight?  Check with the designer/store then and see if they have any plans to discontinue the dress any time soon?  Good luck!

since youare going to be losing weight i say wait until it is closer. i ordered my dress over a year ago, i fell in love with it and i haven't changed my mind about it, people do though. i know that my dress will now have to be taken in as i have lost some weight. my dress did take 10 months to come in however.

I would wait, regardless of whether you are going to lose weight or not.  That being said, what you love now may not look good on you anymore if you do lose it.
