Bridesmaids dresses

My daughter is getting married September 28th.  Her 3 bridesmaids did not want to buy their dresses in a bridal salon because of the cost.  They decided on a retail store (Boston store) to get their dresses.  My question is do they get their regular size or should they have their dresses fit larger and get a size bigger?  They could go for alterations if needed.  They did buy a long length.  I'm sure the length on some or all dresses will be needing alterations.

Can they not try them on to see what size fits? Or go by their measurements?

Most of my BMs ordered their dresses online, but went by their measurements and the size chart and they all fit fine. I don't know if they were their street size or not.

The 1 girl did try it on at the store and it did fit. She took it home.  The other 2 is ordering them online. My question is about the fit.  Should they be ordered to fit or larger in case they gain weight..  What I'm worried about is if their dresses will fit them for the wedding.  The wedding is 6 months from now.  How many months before the wedding did your bridesmaids order their dresses?  Actually I think the girls should have waited more closer to the wedding date to get their dresses.

They should buy a dress that fits them now.  That is how they would do it if they purchased through a bridal store so I don't see why they should do it any different because they are going through a retail store.

Since they are going through a retail store I think purchasing them sooner rather then later may be a good idea because of the fear that the store may run out of stock or stop carrying the dress closer to the wedding date.
