Too soon to buy?

My wedding is two years away but I believe I've found my dream wedding dress (I haven't tried it on yet but I've seen pictures of it).  Is it too soon to purchase my dress?

I've had some friends tell me that it is too soon and others tell me that if I wait another year the dress may be discontinued.

I can't see any reason why it's too soon as long as I wait to do any alterations but I have no idea what could/would happen in the next two years.

I would definitely try it on first. You might decide you don't even like it as dresses look VERY differrent on than they do in any picture.

If you try it on and truly love it, then you consider the pros/cons of buying it then. Yes, there is a chance you won't like it then, but there is always that chance anyhow even with little time.

if you decide you don't like it, you might decide it is best to just wait for awhile..

Check with designers about discontinuation cuz I know Casablanca (where I bought my dress) never discontinues their dresses. I bought mine recently and it was from 2008 collection actually.

Thanks for your response, Loca.  It's a Maggie Sottero dress and she does discontinue her dresses depending on how well they're selling.  I definitely plan on trying it on before purchasing.

Also, if you do end up buying now, then STOP LOOKING AT DRESSES.

Seriously.  It'll drive you crazy.  Once you commit to a dress, really commit to it.

I bought my "dream dress" 2 years out. It was not the one I wore to my wedding.

I would wait. There are so many dresses out there and you truly may fall in love with something else in time. These boards are full of brides who fell in love with a dress and bought it a year and two years in advance and later fell out of love with it and fell in love with another and now they are trying to figure out what to do. But Monkeysip is right: If you choose to buy it, stop looking at dresses!!! Good luck with your decision!

Honestly, I bought my wedding dress last year and my wedding is next year. Was it the plan? Absolutely not. Turns out my dress got discontinued and the company closed so I got it before it was too late. It still takes my breath away and no other dress has made me looked twice. I know what dress I'll be wearing on my wedding day. For me it was a no-brainer.

Thank you all!!  I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it (if it looks as god on me as it does in the pictures).  I promise not to look at any others!

I'm having the same dilemma. My wedding isn't until May 2014 but I fell in love with Maggie's Antonia.  I tried it on and everything and still love it.  I'll have to decide soon if I want to order it this far in advance.
