Mother of groom dress

Bridesmaids are wearing below the knee dresses.  Mother and step-mother of bride are wearing long dresses.  Does mother of groom need to wear long, or can she wear short?  One grandmother is wearing long too, what about grandmothers?  Wedding is Oct 23, so we need advice quickly.

Re: Mother of groom dress

  • She can wear whatever length she's comfortable wearing.
  • Ditto PP, I never understood why mom's and grandma's all had to wear the same length. Whatever they are comfortable with is the way to go.
  • Anyone who isn't in the wedding party can wear whatever they wish.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I read your replies because this is a concern for me as well.

The "wear something your comfortable in" answer is a frustrating one, in my opinion because everything I've read about dressing states the MOG should "complement" the MOB's dress.  i.e., match in hem length and tone/shade of color.

I hope you get some better advice.

Where have you read these things? In bridal magazines? They do NOT have to compliment each other. They should truly wear something they they are comfortable in and makes them feel beautiful. That thought about them complimenting or matching each other is outdated and needs to be squashed.
