changing a zipper back to a corset

does anyone know...if this can be done by a skilled seamstress and 2, any idea how much it costs roughly??

Just curious...I love my dress, but that was the one thing I wanted different, and I have yet to get alterations done.

  • Yup - a skilled seamstress can definitely do this.  Cost is going to depend on a number of factors.  Call up a seamstress in your area!
  • thanks ladies! ;)

  • Yes it can absolutely be done.  And not only that, but I highly recommend doing it.  I did it to my dress, and it really gave me a lot of weight flexibility and peace of mind.

It actually turned out to be a life-saver because I got food poisoning the week before my wedding, and suddenly lost 10 lbs.  If I had had a zipper back, I would have been panicked.  As it was, even the corset back could barely handle the size change.

Because my dress was complex, it cost me close to 200 to convert the back.  I would say that's the highest end of cost you would see though.

  • I don't know what the exact cost for you will be, but I changed mine from a corset to a zipper (I am just not a fan of the corset look on me) and it cost about $75. Hope that helps!
