Umm potty question?

So my dress is a mermaid/fit and flare style. It hugs me down to my thighs (almost knees) and then flares out. The back is not corset style, it's a zip with crystals going all the way up and a loop that loops over them (to cover the zip).

My question is, how does one pee in a dress like this? It won't be easy to take off because of the back/crystals/looping, and I think it's going to be hella hard to lift up.

I did sort of think about this when i was buying the dress, but I was so in love with it, I though "I'll figure it out after".

For those of you who have worn this style dress before, what did you do? And for those who are going to - what are your plans? :D

  • I think you will just have to loosen the back and lift it up.  You might have a bridesmaid, friend, mom, etc who might be willing to help you in the event that you have to pee.

PS: I would actually avoid excess water once you put your dress on.

  • I have exactly the same question!!!  But my dress has a corset back and I don't want someone to have to keep tying it up!

  • Omigosh, that's hilARious!!!

I never even thought about stooping backwards (frontwards?) on the toilet! I think i may have to test it out at home because I'm not sure I can straddle that wide and lean forward, hmmm... LMAO...

And DEF minimal water and champagne... until half way through the night when i change into a dress that's easier to get in and out of!

Thanks for the insight and glad I'm not the only one worried about this!!

  • I was just going to post that site. Yup, it made me laugh, too. But hey, if it works, that is all that matters, right?

Surprisingly, I didn't go pee at all when I was wearing my dress. Lets just say I had to go really really bad when my Mom helped me take it off at the end of the night.
  • Slight threadjack:
MissySue, I had a look at your bio - i LOVE your bouquet colours! My colours are teal, purple and magenta, so I am instantly drawn to the teal/turquoise and purple! Soooo pretty! :D Gorgeous pics!

  • I didn't use the restroom the entire day/night either.  I honestly didn't even think about it until it was all over, that's when I realized I needed to pee.  I guess I was just too busy to think about it.

  • I didn't need to use the facilities until after the reception was over.  Other than that bit of information, can I please beg you to not create the "honorary" position of "bride's pee attendant" whose sole job is to help you here.  :)

  • I hope I'm going to not have to go at least till near the end - when i get nervous I either pee alot or not at all, let's hope it's the latter. (sorry if that was TMI)

When I try on my dress next time, which will probably be in January, i wll test out lifting it up - it's the snugness around my hips that has me worried a bit.

I practiced sitting when I tried the dress on in the store, but I did not try lifting it up to my waist, sigh.

tldh - when I was MOH for my friend a few year's back I had to hold her dress while she peed (she had a ball gown style). Thankfully she only had to go once :S I will try and spare my MOH of that "honourable" duty, lol!

  • My maid of honor has been there for both of my childrens births, and helped me pee after multiple surgeries, so I guess if I have to pee I wouldn't mind but I'd still rather not... LOL. I think I will just take mine off. Toilets gross me out! I dont want my dress all over a bathroom or <gasp> A TOILET! eeeeewwwww...LOL. I will probably have to go to the restroom on the first twinge of having to pee so I can get out of the dress in time.
