    Okay....
    Test flights are showing no damage from the ash, and other airlines are experimenting with flying low (below the ash) and over 36k feet (above the ash). We booked our trip through vayama.com, so my mom is calling them today when she gets home to see what our options are. We are considering changing from Swiss Air to Italy's airline and flying direct to Rome. From there we could take the train to Florence or have a friend of mine who lives in Florence come pick us up. My sister is trying to figure some things out.

    Another thing we are considering is changing our airline and flying from Boston to another connecting city and then on to Florence. It's pretty nerve-wracking, but my mom keeps saying, "We'll be fine, and even if we can't go to Europe, we'll cash in our tickets and go somewhere else."  
    But we want to go to Italy to see my sister :(
