big ol' puffy white dress

I've gone dress searching. I've tried on every kind of style of dress, mermaid to A line, etc. I like the ballgown the best. The puffier the better. I love dresses from Amelia Casablanca and Hollywood dreams. The only problem is that they are crazy expensive. My mother has suggested that I should buy one of those sweet 16 dresses and just order it in white. But I don't know..

Re: big ol' puffy white dress

  • I've found puffy dresses at DB for about 400$. Check out preownedweddingdress.com

  • Have you looked at quinceanera dresses? They're huge and usually white, and priced more like prom dresses than wedding gowns.
  • I would suggest checking out perfectbridal.com

here is one from their website, they have good reviews, i heard their shipping is fast too ! (melody quinciañera)  - the prices are around $340-390

  • Go to a salon with magazine pictures of the dresses you like, and tell the saleswoman that you want something like that that costs $x or under, and she should be able to find some suitable dresses for you.

Who cares if it winds up being a Sweet 16 dress? Nobody but you will ever have to know. And even if others find out, why is that a bad thing? It's just an outfit. It's ridiculous to spend twice as much on a piece of clothing just because it's got a "wedding" title tacked onto it (and 99% of the time, it's the exact same thing anyway).

Lots of Sweet 16 girls wear a wedding dress (look on the Maggie Sottero website for the Real Brides section), and lots of brides wear things like prom dresses, evening gowns and Sweet 16 dresses to their weddings.

Anyone who'd judge you for not having a "wedding" dress is a d0uche. As long as your nipples and crotch aren't hanging out,  who the fark cares WHAT you wear as long as you're happy?

  • Ditto to the PP who mentioned David's Bridal.  I tried on several poofy gowns there that were well under $1000.

  • Davids Bridal should have plenty that are puffy enough that aren't super expensive. If you want a "wedding" wedding dress instead of a sweet 16 I would go with that first.
  • quince dresses can be gorgeous! and to me there is no difference between them and a simmilar styled wedding gown.
    this store has amazing dresses!
