What's your Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue?

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked a ton.

Just wondering what yall plan on carrying with you on the day of! I have no idea what I'm going to carry, so I was hoping yours might jog an idea. My father, may he rest in peace, was a police officer for 30 years. So I'm going to wear one of his medals as my "something blue" (I don't really want to wear anything that isn't white) But I have no ideas for the other three!

What will you be using? and how will you carry it?

Re: What's your Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue?

  • Something Old: FMIL has some old charms from Venice that's she's letting me borrow (so it covers two categories) to hook onto the fabric on the stem of my bouquet. I'm also going to have the florist integrate my grandma's necklace (she died a little over 7 years ago and wore this necklace all the time. I've kept it safe and hidden- I don't think my mom even knew I had it) into my bouquet.

    Something New: My dress!

Something Borrowed: The charms from FMIL.

Something Blue: My garter is blue and I have blue flowers in my bouquet.

    I think that's all I have...

Old- Vintage handkerchief with my new last name initial given to me by my MIL (I held this around the stem of my bouquet).

New- DH gave me an aquamarine bracelet (he also thought it could be my something blue incase I didn't have one), entire day of outfit.

Borrowed- Six pence that my late grandmother put in my sisters shoe when she was married.

Blue- Bracelet DH gave me, a dress label I had made with our monogram and wedding date (sewn into the front kick of my skirt so I could have pictures of it).

Something Old: We're getting married on my maternal grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary and I am wearing her garter that she wore 50 years ago! This is also my something borrowed. Something New: My dress of course! Something Blue: My shoes! You can't see them because my dress is a ball gown, but they'll be perfect for pictures and fun!

Old- My engagement ring- it was my fiance's grandmother's ring, given to her in 1941 as a 10-year wedding anniversary gift.

    New- Dress, other jewelry.

Borrowed- Not sure yet. My mom has a ring from my great-aunt that I'd like to borrow for my right hand, but it's too big. :( Plus it's yellow gold, and everything else is white metal, so back to the drawing board I suppose.

Blue- My shoes are sort of aqua blue/green, I think those'll work!

Old: My veill. We are using my moms veil and adding lace from her wedding dress to trim the end.

    New: Vikings garter

Borrowed: Possibly my sorority presidents badge that I would wear on the inside of my dress

Blue: The little blue ribbon sewn in the inside of my garter
  • Something old:  my engagement ring.  We had my grandmother engagement ring and wedding band stones re-set for my ring.  I also had pearl earrings  and a pearl bracelet that my dad had made for me from my mom's pearl necklace after she died. (She was wearing her pearls the night she was killed in a car accident and only some of the pearls on the strand were recovered.  Those that were my dad had made into earrings and a bracelet for me.)

Something borrowed:  I borrowed from my cousin (my MOH) a pearl and rhinestone necklace.

Something blue:  I had blue in my garter.

  • My old was a handkercheif that belonged to my great grandmother, my new was my dress, my borrowed was the veil I used, it was the one my sister used at her wedding and my blue was an "I" and a "Do" lettering on the bottom of my shoes (I saw the idea online, possibly here on the knot).

  • Something Old: My grandmother gave me my grandfather's sister's wedding ring from 1928 a few years back (all 3 have passed). My grandmother kept it with her jewelry and I always played dress up with all of it. One day, she told me I could pick one. I chose that one not knowing what it was. I have worn it everyday since then, for about 8 years. After a few months of wearing it, I saw an inscription on the inside, and then realized the history of the ring. It's really special to me. Something New: I don't really know yet. I guess my dress... Something Borrowed: My other grandmother asked if I wanted to wear the pearls she wore when she married my grandfather. I was honored, but they just don't go with my dress. I will have them with me, in a pouch on the underside of my dress's skirt. Something Blue: My seamstress is making a pouch to put those pearls in (above^), and on the pouch in blue thread it will have my new monogram and our wedding date.

  • I recently lost both my grandmothers. I am so sad that they can't be with me on my wedding day. My "something old" is going to be two charms with pictures of them hanging from my bouquet.
My something new is my bridal shoes that my mother bought for me for Christmas this past year! I've been dying to wear them!
My something blue is going to be the bottom of my heels. I am having everyone involved with the wedding (family, friends, and wedding party) sign the bottom of my shoes in blue sharpie the night before the wedding at the rehearsal dinner.
My something borrowed is going to be the pictures of my grandmothers that I am borrowing from my mom to put in the charms on my bouquet.
Hope this helps and good luck with your wedding! :)

My new is my dress, of course.  My old are my grandfather's air force wings.  My florist will pin them to the fabric of my bouquet.  He passed 6 years ago so this is a way to honor him as well.  My blue is my garter, my fiance is a huge NY Giants fan so I got a NY Giants garter.  My borrowed is my headpiece.  It was my friend's (and bridesmaid's) from her wedding.
  • My somthing old will be my mothers wedding dress. Im probably going to get it alterd to look a little more modern. (she was married in the early 90's and the dress is beautiful, but too...big.)

My somthing borrowed will be my grandmothers pearl necklace that she wore with her wedding dress.

My somthing new will be the shoes

My somthing Blue, i still dont know, but ive got a lot of time to figure it out. :)
