Orange Flip Flops or other non-traditional footware for wedding shoes

OK I will be wearing flipflops for my wedding as I hate wearing anything other than those or tennis shoes. Plus I want to be comfortable. My wedding is turning into a more casual country wedding with a hint of a classic feel to it. I have given my BM the go ahead to wear whatever shoes they want to wear and let's say their footware is not traditional either. I was planning on having cream (closest to ivory I could find) flip flops but then I was thinking that i could to orange or green. My colors are Brown, Orange, and Green. I was thinking about doing my toe nails in green or something cute like that. No one will really be seeing my toes but if they do I want them to remember them. =)

So what are you doing for your footware?

  • That sounds like a fantastic idea. I got married a few years ago and came on here to search something for an engaged friend, and happened across your post. I too, hate wearing anything but flip flops or tennis shoes and since no one could see my feet anyway, i figured...screw 'em =) Wear what you're comfy in...i myself wore pink platform flip flops because of a bet I lost in college with my maid of honor...my feet never hurt once...and later on when i hiked up my skirts to teach a groomsmen the electric slide, everyone thought it was fantastic that i was wearing those bright pink flip flops. Great pictures, great memories...definately go with what you're comfy in!!

I'm planning on getting white rainbow flipflops with the rhinestones. all i wear are rainbows during the summer so i figured i would wear those and make them more weddingy with the rhinestones and painting my toes blue (my wedding colors) so i say go for it!
  • I'm wearing white flipflops with two clear jewel stones on them.  I think orange ones would be way fun :)

  • I am wearing these awesome sandals made by women in Uganda - the sales help to pay for the women to go to college. And the sandals look to be freakin' awesome too!

I'm getting the bright red ones... but they have all different colors!

  • I'm (possibly) wearing casual red flats with a big bow on them.
  • I am wearing satin flip flops from David's, in the color "watermelon". They will match my bridal party dresses :)

  • I am wearing purple flats.
  • I'm wearing either bright blue or bright green converse shoes.
  • I'm wearing gold lame 5" platform heels...

Disclaimer - my FI is 6'5 and I still won't be eye level with him in these! (Also its Vegas, so its really not un-bridal there!)Laughing

OMG, I was at the tux shop picking out the men's stuff and I saw a pair of meds dress shoes by Converse. I was very tempted to pick them out for the guys but decided against it. I knwo one of my BM is doing converse with her formal BM dress (I am allowing them to pick out their own shoes as they wont be seen).

  • My shoes are pink and white sneaker boots with a 3 inch heel. I didn't want to pay to hem my dress so I needed to add 3 inches to my height. I am also a clutz so any type of heels I wear have to have a good ankle support and these shoes come up over my ankle, similar to hightops.
