experience in mermaid dresses...?

So I bought my wedding gown this past weekend. I went in wanting a vneck, champagne colored a-line gown. I ended up buying an ivory, strapless, mermaid gown.  I LOVE my dress. It was the first one I tried on.

I'm just curious about walking in the dress? Was it easy? Difficult? It was kind  of hard to walk in at the store but the sample was also two sizes too small, we managed to stuff me in it. The consultant assured me that once I have my dress in my size it wont be an issue.

Any feedback from brides with mermaids?

Re: experience in mermaid dresses...?

  • A good friend got married in one... IMO it was defiinitely on the tight side- a real true mermaid where her knees were pretty locked together.  Standing wasn't a problem, walking was fine, but sitting was.  We ended up actualy getting her a stool 'cause it was easier for her to semi-lean/sit down on it...

Get a good seamstress and trust in her... and practice sitting!  We ended up being able to re-lace the back of her dress (it was corset-backed with like a zipper down the side around the legs) to give her more room to sit down.
