Maggie Sottero - Casey??

Is anyone or has anyone worn the Maggie Sottero Dress Casey? I'm going to be wearing this dress, but when I first tried it on it was too small, I was still totally in LOVE with it. Well after purchasing the dress, it came in WAY too big and it made me look really short.. I'm sure it was mostly due to it being too big, but I got worried. This is my dream dress and I'm so afraid it's going to make me look goofy. I'm already only 5'5" so any shorter is not a good thing..

Pictures would be very much appreciated.   :)

Here is a picture of the dress

That dress has a dropped waist and I do notice that dropped waist dresses make women look shorter.  Since the dress is so large, there should be enough fabric in the skirt that a good seamstress can raise the skirt so the dress has a more natural waist.  You would still have the other components of the dress that you like.

Also, find some nice really high heels.  :)
  • The reason why it made you look shorter was because it is too big.  Since it is a drop waist the dress probably wasn't pulled up where it was suppose to be because of the size.

When you tried on your purchased dress did they clip it or anything to give you a better feel for what it would look like when it was altered?

Also, did you have your shoes on?  Are you wearing heels or flats?  If you aren't a fan of heels because of the pain associated with them have you tried wedges?  They give a bit more stability by still giving you some added height.

I think once you get back in the dress and they start pinning away the extra material you will feel differently about it.

  • It made you look short because it was too big.

A dropped waist actually elongates you.where a short waist cuts you off. Have it altered to fit and wear heels.

  • Thank you ladies! I will be wearing 4in heels so that should definitely help some.

When I tried my dress on, she laced it up, but didn't really pull it tight for me to get a good visual of what it'll look like. So needless to say I panicked and started second guessing my dress.   :(

So I'm really hoping that once it's altered to fit me, it'll look great!

<div>The dropped waist will elongate the torso but make the legs look shorter.  But in any event, OP, I'm sure you and your seamstress will figure out a way to make the dress look fabulous once it is properly fitted to your size.  Good luck.</div>

  • That is a beautiful dress and I'm sure once it is altered to fit you, it will look amazing!
