When to order Bridesmaids Dresses....?

I have three BMs that are from out of state and the other BMs are local.  My wedding is in June of 2014.  What would be good time to have the girls order their dresses?  And what do you think would be waaaaay too early to order?  Thanks!

Now is too early.  The store we got the BM dresses said it will take about 4 months for the dresses to come in.  So I think 6 months is a good timeframe because it gives the girls 2 months to do alterations.

Yeah, my BMs ordered at about 6 months (earliest at 7 latest at 5). Everyone except the straggler has hers now and hers should be here soon (hopefully)

We ordered 8 months out and it was a bit early but it was the only time we could all get together.

I'm getting married june 7th 2013 and we just ordered the bridesmaid dresses yesterday (david's bridal) with a guaranteed ship date of april 1st, and most likely they will come in sooner.  The first store we went to (alfred angelo) flipped like I knew they would and wanted to charge them all rush fees, so we looked elsewhere.  Every wedding I've been in we've ordered at the 4-5 month mark and the dresses came in about 4-6 weeks and sat in the closet for a month or two.  If the dress is more complex and the girls may need alterations obviously give yourself a little extra time, but definitely not neccessary for them to have a dress sitting in the closet for too long.  It will definitely vary from store to store though.
