my dress is in!! PIP

I realize my wedding is over a year away, but fell in love with a dress when we first went shopping "just to get ideas" and wound up buying it that night...

The picture on the webpage with the model do it NO justice (I think it actually looks better on a hanger than on the model, lol)...  Here's one of the reviewers wearing it, and I have a very similar body type to her:

Sort of funny reading through the reviews, as it seems most people had the same initial reaction to the dress that I did - try it on for sizing purposes or because it's nice, but not actually having it be one of the favorites initially. It was the first dress I tried on, put it on the "maybe" rack and 8 dresses later, went back to it and cried when I put it back on.

I'm just so excited it's in! :) Thanks for letting me share

  • What a gorgeous dress! I love the detail and beadwork.
  • I knew I wanted something with beadwork, but not something too over the top... the two words we're trying to keep in mind when planning everything is "simple elegance". I just love the way the bodice is gathered and has all the detailing, and the lace is classic without, IMO, looking old.

I didn't have that "AHA!" moment the first time I put this dress on, but after trying on so many other dresses and having something to compare it to, when I walked out of the fitting room the 2nd time wearing it, my FMIL and my mom both just gasped... my FMIL told me to go back into the room and walk out again... she said she couldn't believe how elegant it looked and that she thought it was the one. My mom was nearly in tears (which is BIG for my mom to get emotional like that over a dress) and when I caught myself in the mirror, I burst into tears... I knew it had to be it.

  • That's awesome!  And I agree, it looks a lot more different on the reviewer than on the model. Beautiful dress!
  • Lovely, congrats!

That sounds about what happened when I found my dress. I couldn't decide between two and my Mom couldn't make it for the second trip when I was going to decide which one I was going to order. So I took my MIL and SIL along. They knew right away which one and that is the dress I ended up ordering. I am so glad I did. I had so many compliments on it on my wedding day.
  • My FMIL loved the dress... my FSIL completely missed the "OMG this is it" moment because she got hungry and ran out to grab Chinese takeout! haha. but she liked it too when she came back... I'm just so excited! I can't wait to go pick it up!
  • Very pretty! Did you get a lot of free stuff at Disney? FI and I got engaged at Universal and went to Disney the next day and got the buttons. We got free rice krispy treats, free chocolate covered marshmallows, and some other stuff. It was really cool.
  • alieghk1 - totally jealous of your free stuff! We didn't get anything free, but we did get a lot of congrats from staff members and overall everyone was pleasant (believe it or not, I have dealt with some really rude cast members in the past... so to not have any of them be rude this trip was wonderful haha). But it was fun to walk around sort of announcing that we'd just gotten engaged... and even better? it was FI's idea, not mine!

From what I've been told, the Just Engaged and Just Married buttons are actually being/have been discontinued... so I'm glad we got them when we did. And we scoured the parks for somewhere that had Just Married ones left. We stumbled upon one store that had found an extra box when restocking shelves, so we grabbed a few for the HM next year (since we plan to go back) and for the scrapbook once the wedding happens and all that jazz!
