What's the deal with trunk shows?  Why are they so popular?  Do you actually get a discount?

1. For the show, the store will get a larger range of dresses from the new collection than they'll have samples of in the store.
2. Sometimes. Many designers do, some don't. Maggie Sottero and the rest of her lines don't do discounts at shows anymore, but most others still do. It's generally 10-15% off.
3. Often there will be someone who works for the designer or the designer themself there, giving the bride a chance to discuss customization to a dress.

Trunk shows typically have the entire (or close to the entire) new line out. Often, before the salons will get their samples. They will usually give a small percentage off (10-15%).   It's just an opportunity to talk to a rep from the designer, order a dress before it is everywhere, and get a small discount.

Sample sales and trunk shows are not the same thing.   I thought they were for a long time.
