What "look" are you going for?

Hi Ladies,
I am torn between 3 very different dresses and happen to love them all.
The first dress is a Paloma with a big skirt with ruffles.  It brings out the 12 year old girl in me that feels like a princess and when else will I ever get to feel like that?  But I'm not sure I want the hassle of a big skirt all night.
The second one is a silk Paloma trumpet.  It is very elegant with a hint of sex appeal.  I think my fiance would love that one and I do love how i look in it.
And the last one is a sweetheart neckline, satin, with a studded belt, modified A-line.  No glitz. Plain, but extremely classic.  It is the sort of dress that even when I'm 90, I'd say well that was a gorgeous, traditional dress. I think that most people would expect to see me in this one-which is sort of what is turning me off. I can be whoever I want that day.
I am very simple, not a lot of make-up, plain sort of girl.
Our venue is a golf club and the room is all wooden inside and we have a rustic theme.  Please tell me your opinions!
I need help!

  • While I feel like the last dress, the A-line might go best with your overall "theme" I think you should wear the one that you felt the best in. Which I'm thinking was the Paloma trumpet by the way you talked about it..

If you had pictures of the dresses we could give you better feedback. Its hard to picture things when there are so many dresses that look exactly the way you describe.

  • I made my final decision by talking to my fiance about what he imagined me in on our big day. I knew he would love me in anything, but its important to me to try incorporate as much of his vision as I can.

    Exactly.

  • agree with the whole "I never want to take it off" statement.  By the way you describe the dresses, it sounds like dress #2 is the winner.  What we thought at 12 years old is probably incredibly different at our age now.  At 12 years old I probably imagined myself in a fully covered, long sleeve with puffy shoulders type dress since I gre up in the 80s!   Would I ever wear something like that now-- no way :)  Its very common to like something you didn't think you would like, and to me that was the fun part.  My dress is something I originally never had on my top list; but I saw it in my 2nd store and when I put it on I didn't want to take it off, and every dress I did put on after it  I compared to "the dress."

  • I would go with #2. You said you love how you look in it so it sounds like this might be the one.

When I went dress shopping I wanted a puffy ball gown with lots of bling strapless sweetheart because it's what I always envisioned myself in. I tried it on and I felt very pretty and diva-ish in it but then realized it was fun to try it on but couldn't picture myself walking down the aisle in it.

I ended up buying a simple satin A-Line with VERY little bling and I felt great in it so it was the winner.

i agree! before i went shopping i asked him what do you envision me in when i walk down the aisle? and he told me. i always envisioned myself in a cinderella type dress and when i went to try on the big white gowns--it was not for me..the bridal consultant said let me pick out a dress for you, she came back with a trumpet style gown and i turned my nose up at it and she said "just try it, dresses are not made for the hanger, if you don't like, we will try something else!" That lady knew what she was doing bc i put that dress on and felt like a million bucks and i have never felt pretty before and i felt amazing. She didn't say one word until i said this is it. and she said i know..i didn't want to say anything til you said so. haha. my future hubby will be very pleased
