Suits for fall wedding

My FI and I are planning our Oct. '13 wedding with a rustic theme.  I'm going to be wearing cowboy boots and my FI wants to wear some as well but we're trying to decide on a color suit (he does not want to wear a tux).  I don't really have colors (I'll be using fall wildflowers) but my maid of honor will be in either a greyish purple or soft pink.  I think that he should wear grey but he wants to wear brown.  Any help would be appreciated!

brown would look good with the boots but be very un-useful in the future. i think any shade of grey would work  an be useful in the future

brown would go better with the boots and depending on your fiance can be useful or not. My fiance had a suit in pretty much every color and wears his brown one more than his black or gray one

I think brown would work well with his boots (which is an adorable idea, btw). Just please make sure you get a "modern" brown....some browns are outdated.

I love grey suits... bonus points if it has some subtle pinstriping.  Grey would pair nicely with dark brown boots.

There's nothing wrong with brown and a brown suit is just as useful as any other color suit in the future. I'm not sure what makes brown appear to be un-useful, that's silly. I do agree that there are lots of shades of brown to work with and weaney is right about chosing a brown that is more modern. Or you could also consider more of a taupe. Take a swatch of your BM dress color options and decide together which color you think pairs best with the suit color he likes.
