How do I make my shoes more comfortable??

So I bought the perfect shoes for my dress a couple months back. I am absolutely in love with them! However, I just got them out again when I got my dress altered and they are SO uncomfortable. I didn't notice when I bought them because they are fine for the first 10 minutes but anything after that is excruciating pain. For the alterations I wore them with hose but they are peep two and look silly with hose so I can't do that for the actual day. They can't be returned because its been so long so I really want to make them work. Any suggestions on ways to streach them out a little bit? They are just too narrow and hurt the balls of my feet. Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: How do I make my shoes more comfortable??

  • Can you stuff something in the toe, like some balled up socks? I would just be careful they don't get too stretched b/c then you have a whole different issue of them not fitting right. Maybe you could wear them around the house a little every day?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • If they are too narrow across the ball of the foot, a shoemaker can stretch them for you.  You can also get stick on pads to cushion the ball of the foot.
  • I second at least wearing them around the house to break them in. That's what I've been doing with my shoes. They're actually getting quite comfortable now that they aren't so stiff.

  • Okay thanks, looks like I'll start cooking and cleaning in stilettos!
  • I just read something the other day that suggested putting on thick socks and then the shoes, and then blasting them with a hairdryer for a bit then letting them cool down while still on your feet.
