Ladies, I'm trying to get the word out about an online Chinese scam: the website
www.HeleneBridal.com has some gorgeous photos, but do not be fooled into buying from this site!
The dress I ordered (and paid for by debit card) was shown in the picture on their website to be a dreamy, lace couture dress: it had a very soft, flowing lace with a deep V-Neck, finely tailored, with tiny cap sleeves covering the shoulders only, a sash made of ribbon, lace going all the way down the back, in my own custom measurements, and the color of ivory.
While I was waiting for the dress to arrive, I got an email saying it had been delivered (it hadn't). When I emailed the "company" (a gmail account), I got a misspelled, rough email in return insisting it had been delivered. I then searched their reputation online (which I should have done first) and found numerous other women in the same boat. I emailed back, telling HeleneBridal I was filing numerous complaints.
After that, the "company" sent another email saying the dress was now coming. I received a "dress" in the mail yesterday that is not at all what I ordered: the hideous item that arrived was poorly made of cheap, stiff lace, had uneven measurements, had a high V-neck, was of white color, had numerous loose strings, had a poorly installed back zipper, had short sleeves, had a sash sewn out of a rough, cheap satin, had lace going down only part of the back, and did not fit the custom measurements I sent them.
Now, my money is gone, and I didn't get the dress I wanted. I have just discovered that
www.HeleneBridal.com appears to use the same pictures that appear on a high-end Chicago couture boutique.
Always check the reputation of the company before you buy online!! Get independent references if possible and stake out a physical location, as well as a person you can talk to on the phone.
